I am going to order an extended battery because I use my phone a lot and this battery life is just not working for me, but since the battery makes the phone bigger my current case obviously wont still work (don't like it that much anyway lol). What I was wondering is do I really need a case on my T-bolt? And if I do are there any out there that work with the extended battery and let me keep my good kickstand? (I'm talking to you sedio!)

I'm in your corner. I got my extended battery last week and I'm loving it! I'm also rockin a naked TB and you know what, I really like it as it is. I've had a case on my phone since I got it back in March and yes, I have dropped it and the case was a phone saver. I just can not find a case that I really love. I don't like that the Seidio cases cover the stock kickstand/speaker at all. I love my kickstand! Plus, I pull out the kickstand when I'm listening to iheartradio in the mornings when I'm making breakfast for the kids and when on speaker phone. I feel a lot more comfortable and confident holding my phone now than when I got it. I also put my phone in my bag before going anywhere so I'm not really holding it as I walk. I do have a screen protector on. I guess I'll just see what comes out.

I think some protection is always a good thing but don't like the big, bulky cases that some people use. I picked up a silicone case off of eBay for 5 bucks and it's been great. Verizon just released a silicone case for the extended battery which I ordered yesterday. Some people have been able to find it at their local Verizon store but mine didn't even know it existed. I was able to give them the part # and they ordered me one.

You don't need a case in the same way that you don't need health insurance & rental car insurance. What I mean is if you want to go naked (caseless) that's your right, but IF something happens like a drop it's an added layer of protection. The silicon & TPU cases will cushion the phone in that event, lessening the sharp impact of a drop on a hard surface which could result in a cracked screen.

The way I look at it, if your repair/replacement cost is more than you can afford, a $10-30 case is worth it. You're looking at upwards of $500 to replace the phone.

As far as extended battery cases that work with the Tbolt & leave the kickstand usable, I believe htcpedia has one in their store that will work. I think it's a TPU case (like the high gloss silicon cases Verizon sells) that stretches enough to get it on the phone, but has a high gloss plastic feel, not a rubberized feel like on a standard silicon case.

Edit: Here's a link to the extended silicon (not TPU) case for the Tbolt. http://shop.htcpedia.com/htc-thunderbolt-extended-battery-cases.html

It's basically a standard case that leaves the headphone & charging ports, battery hump, & kickstand open. As far as protection, I think think the cause of most cracked screens is not from landing on their back ro front, but on a corner, which would be protected by this case. If you want a TPU style extended case, try the one that JMZ768 linked to in his post. Currently I cannot find it anywhere except on that thread, but the poster mentioned that Verizon can order it for you. The part number is VZW6400SILHGBXT. Hope that helps.

I don't use a case, but I should. There is a Seidio case now, but it makes the phone look incredibly large. Not sure if it's allowed here to post a link to another forum so I'll send you a PM with a link to a thread with several pics.

X infinity! There are more and more extended battery TB cases coming online so find one that works best for you. You'll be much happier with a bulky, scuffed case than no phone and less money to spend on it!

Any pics of this case? And, jmz, I know you don't have it yet, but do you know if it's similar to the basic VZW silicone version (for the standard cover)? If it is, hopefully it fits more snugly than the basic one.

I cannot speak to the extended case. Never had one on my Tbolt and have since switched to the Inc2. But I did have the standard battery high gloss silicon case on mine (known as a TPU case, Verizon calls it high gloss). It was pretty difficult to get on the first time, but after taking it off & on a few times it loosened up to where you could get it on easily, but I never had an issue with it being loose. The TPU case for my Inc2 was the same way as well.

Without reading your entire post, get a case if you intend on selling it later. If you don't, the phone holds up fine when it falls but then again, the screen might crack

I dropped it. How? Well, the truth of the matter was that I had a choice to make. My phone(Which has insurance) or a three day old glass spoon(Which doesnt have insurance). You can see what I chose. lol. If I had a case, there would have been no issue.
