I have a question about rooting. First off, I'm not certain I want to root my phone and keep it rooted as I'm new enough to not fully understand the potential downsides (ie, clear text password storage or potentially leaving the phone open to third party hacking as in the iphone ssh issue) but cautious enough not to hastily apply something without better understanding it.

I have been looking at freezing bloatware to improve control over what runs on my phone and what doesn't. So if I rooted my phone, used a program like Bloat Freezer to freeze some apps and then unroot the phone will the freezes still be in effect? Does the 'freeze magic' still apply once unrooted?

    Thank you.

Hi, Bloat Freezer is my app. The answer is yes, everything will stay frozen and you will only have to root again to defrost apps or freeze some more.

However your hacking concerns about rooting, really aren't concerns. As long as you have the superuser.apk installed, the only apps that can use root are the ones you allow. So as long as you don't let bad apps use root, all other apps will act just as if your phone wasn't rooted.

    Hope that helps.
