I was just charging my evo a and noticed that the 4 soft keys looked a
like they were glowing in the dark. I unplugged the charger and the 4 soft keys was still glowing in the dark

Try shining a flashlight over the keys. If they glow brighter after shining the flashlight, then they are luminous. If not, it's possible there is a light inside somewhere that is lit even when the phone is not active.

That's actually coming from the unicorn tears, the magical element that powers the EVO. Nothing to worry about, standard operating procedure.

In all seriousness though LEDs are insanely efficient. The glow is probably using around .5mA @ ~ 1V = .5mW. The battery pack stores something around 4.9Whr of power... enough to run that LED for 10k hours.

Think of it as a feature, I for one hate fumbling around at night for my phone.

I noticed in one of the videos that it looked like the "ring" around the search button was actually red. Anyone with an EVO confirm this?

It was the video from Telenav

*Edit* here is the video, fast forward to the 2:00 mark.

The speaker grill was still red on this prototype.

Many people have reported this. I wouldn't worry about it.

That video is fascinating. After everyone started harassing Jackson about his information and he was posting his last words before leaving, he said something about a red circle being on the prototype and not making it onto production units. I thought I had seen every video and photo of the Evo and thought the red circle remark was some kind of confused nonsense. But there it is, the search button circle is red and the other keys are white. It looks terrible, good thing they changed it. Just thought it was interesting to see, so now I know what Jackson was talking about. I wonder if any of those prototypes will ever end up on ebay.

OK, so here is another question, since I have only seen dummy phones in person so far. Are the "rings" actually light up, or are they white all the time? Do they have a back light to them?

They light up. They're white by default (like the buttons, but less noticeable), but glow when touched/when the phone is active.
