mid july fo sho, 2.2 is a fairly easy update to apply but it still is gonna take time, i guarantee they are already working on it and i really do think after july is just gonna start pushing the little to late game

lol, tell that to Hero owners. We waited over 6 months........Hopefully HTC will realize that if they want to keep up with motorola who seems to be pushing updates like it's no one's business, they really need to support their phones and get updates out quicker. Same goes for Sprint though.

take it from me who had a cliq for the past six months.. motorola is not on top of their game.. well never mind i take that back, when it comes to the droid they deff are (thats their baby).. every other phone they leave hanging.. the cliqs been waiting for months for that 2.1 update, im just glad im getting rid of it.. and also sense probably does cause a delay in updates, so thats why the hero probably took a while, i just hope the same dosent happen to the evo

Sorry I was using the Droid as my example. That really is their baby. I hope HTC sees the EVO as theirs and follows suit.

I believe it should come right between now and the end of the month. Would be good and smart for it to be here before the 24th, but who knows?

this is not true, the first device to get the 2.1 upgrade was already running 2.0.1 so it was a minor upgrade every other device to get the 2.1 upgrade came at roughly the same time, i think sense was up there as some of the first,

it still took the droid a while to get 2.1 and it had NOTHING but stock, and the moment got it the same time the hero did, so this whole issue i think is really non-existent and a myth, yes it would make sense but clearly motorola had a hard time getting it out quickly with only a MINOR upgrade on a STOCK android device that was the FLAGSHIP android, so i don't think it takes any longer with sense

HTC's comment on this was "most devices launched in 2010 will see a 2.2 update in the second half of 2010".

Fall seems like a reasonable expecation to me.

I was under the impression that running the current 2.2. roms on the Evo stopped you using both cameras, 4G, and that WiFi was iffy.

Would love to know if this is not the case ... if 2.2's native hotspot functionality works properly (the standard Sprint Hotspot is highly problematic and unusably slow) I might not have to return the damn thing.

I hope I can get 2.2 and the free wifi hotpot that's built in, but I dunno that Sprint would let that fly.

Android 2.2 Features Announced By Google : EVDOinfo.com

Doesn't "via update" mean as in "not rooted?"

    Is this Google's call to make - or HTC's - or Sprint's?

it's all of the above's call to make, mostly HTC and Sprint but seeing how the EVO is kinda a flagship for android as well i would see it in Googles best interest to help
