I was wondering if it makes sense to come by local Sprint store today? I mean if they are going to be selling these phones tomorrow morning shouldn't they be stocked up with the phones in the back room by now?

You might find a third party seller who would sell the phone early but there is almost no chance at all a Sprint store would sell it early. They are big sticklers for release dates and there is little chance they would violate it. In fact I've have a tough time even getting them to confirm accessories for devices that were coming out the next day with the phone. It's amazing.

Since this phone has a hard release date then you can't purchase it before that date.

Do you think they can at least show it to me today? I mean we are all hipe about this phone, but most of us never saw it, including me. I am coming from HTC Incredible first generation phone, which was top of the line year and a half ago and most important, Incredible much smaller. I am afraid 4.5" screen phone maybe waaaaay to big for me.

I went to the sprint store to see if they had the phone out on display. The sprint employee said they have them all in the back but can't show them until tomorrow morning

I went to my sprint today and was the only customer inside. The associate that knows me by my phones and not by name let me hold one w/o a battery in it. I compared it to my nexus as far as size its the same with a case on my nexus. Weight wise I could barely tell it was in my hand, especially with no battery in it. My hands aren't giant hands but I didn't have any issues reaching around the screen or to the side buttons.

Forgot to mention I've held infuses and they feel bigger and bulky compared to the epic touch. It might just be in my head.

I agree. I don't have gigantic hands either, but it's still really comfortable to hold. Not as big as some reviews made it out to be. If old folks used to hold the Zack Morris phone, this is nothing.

I called earlier in the week to have one put on hold, not sure if they will honor that though. Walked into a store today to see if I could buy it early which was a no go. I WILL be there tomorrow morning as the store opens though, I just hope there is no crowd.. I may need to bring other tools just in case too many people are there just like me. I WILL get the phone first thing tomorrow, even if I have to use an air gun on people.

Nope - it's not just you. It's definitely more bulky than this phone.

That's because the Infuse IS a few mm longer and wider.

Haha.. you'll probably be the only one there getting the Galaxy S2 though.

I agree with this actually. For some reason, there really wasn't much hype or marketing (like those droid commercials) surrounding this phone. I wouldn't be surprised if there were no lines or people waiting outside to get this phone. It'd be nice to get some good sales for Samsung's sake though -especially before the iPhone5 launch

I got mine today, from sprint corporate store. I went to reserve it for tomorrow, since the guy told me earlier they might not have any left, the girl is like I can have it today if I want. I was like sweet, she said they had been doing it all day. I wont name where and who though. I returned my photon 4g because she helped me when I got it last week, I had wifi issues with the photon.

Awesome! Let me know if you find a way to change the lock screen without rooting. Been playing with this phone all day and still can't put it down :D

It's also partly because of the carrier, Sprint just has fewer users than verizon or at&t. Even looking at the forum post counts on this very own android forums, the droid bionic forums are far more populated and numerous despite being a COMPLETELY inferior phone to the gs2, AND 100 dollars more expensive. But they don't care, it's on verizon, and that is where they will stay, even if they have solid 4g sprint coverage.

I am very disappointed with Sprint. Woke up early to get this phone and three stores near my home don't have it yet.

"We should have UPS shipment today, but we have not received them yet"

They all said the same thing.

Radio Shack is still closed, and I have to go to work now.

The only responsible move to make now is, to call in sick.

By the way, when I purchase this phone at a Sprint store or Radio Shack or any other store, can I bring it home and do the unboxing myself?

When I purchased EVO at Radio Shack last year on launch date, girl opened box, turned on phone and had to update some info. I didnt care, but now I would like to do the unboxing myself.

Is there a way they I can request that?

    - "I want the new Samgung Galaxy S2, don't open it, scan the box, I sign whatever papers you want me to sign for new 2-year contract, and put it in my monthly bill....thanks!"

Depends on the store...The rep may let you do all the activating as they scan the box and all that.

I unbox and do all the activating on all my phones in the store myself. Some reps are cool, some are jerks...mad we know a hell of alot more then they do.

However, needs to be done in store to make a test call and see that its working.

Tell them to keep their greedy hands off it. lol.

Seriously though, the only reason they open the box it to make sure it works (or just to play with it, either one). Back when I worked for Sprint we had to program the phone (no it wasn't automatic like it is today), so there was no way to let a customer leave without opening the box. I used look over the phone while I was programing it just to make sure there was nothing wrong with it that I could see.

You could always request that they don't open the box, say its a present for someone and they are very picky about having the box opened... blame it on someone else, haha.
