Today you can get "Documents to go" for $5.55 (Normally $29.95) but I am not really sure what I would gain over the included Quickoffice ap. I could be wrong but I believe quick office is read only while documents to go allows editing.

    Anyone else know the difference?

The read vs create/edit is a big reason (obviously), but Docs also supports many more files than QuickOffice (especially)Office 07 and 10 formats.

It was a steal at $19.99 (compared to $50 on BB) and at $5.55 it is a gift.

I bought it for $5.55, but I'm debating if it was worth it. I was hoping to sync with my desktop but apparently you can only do that with the iPhone version.

You can sync with your desktop via SugarSync, which is free if you go with the 2GB version. Documents To Go at this price is a steal. It's not perfect, but it's the best you'll do right now.

Is this the full version or is anything left out? If they update the versions of the program you get all the updates included once you pay the $5.55 right?

I hadn't really been planning to get this, but at this price I'm considering it.

Anybody want to give a quick run-down of the advantages of this over what can be had for free?

I haven't found anything other than Docs to Go that can handle Office 2007 as well. There is a free version of Docs to Go that doesn't allow edit - it also doesn't let you view PowerPoint presentations. $5.55 for something as awesome (and necessary) as an Office editor is great (until - or if - a good Google Docs editor comes out). If you hate it, you have 24 hours to uninstall for a full refund (as with any paid app).

And now, since I have hit my comma and parenthesis quota, I am done.

I was talking about NATIVE sync to the app. With the iphone you can sync without using a cloud service like sugarsync/dropbox but rather their desktop program combined with their mobile Docs2go.

Newp - no NATIVE sync. If it's gotta be all or nothing, you're probably going to have to settle with nothing. When I go to SugarSync and select a document, it auomatically opens in Docs to Go. When I save it, SugarSync syncs it. That's close enough for me. Android tends to be more of a mix-and-match, choose-your-own-adventure platform.

I downloaded it last night to try it for 24 hours. I sent myself some test Office 2007 documents (1 Excel and 1 Word) and tried opening them both with QuickOffice and Docs to Go. They opened in both. I thought QuickOffice wasn't supposed to handle Office 2007.

QuickOffice was also able to open a Powerpoint presentation as well.

Anybody know what the deal is? Has QuickOffice added compatibility for 2007 and Powerpoint or is it something where when I uninstall and get my refund from Docs to Go all of a sudden QuickOffice will no longer be able to handle it (like it is using Docs to Go to convert them or something).

If QuickOffice opens 2007 and Powerpoint now then the only real advantage to Docs to Go is that you can edit right? If that is the only difference I might go ahead and just stick with QuickOffice.

There was something in the Eris forums regarding a newly leaked version of 2.1 that listed, among other things, the addition of Office 2K7 support for QuickOffice. I'd swear I tried that on my Incredible before installing Docs to Go and had no luck, but maybe I didn't.

I installed it last night and then realized i don't need to edit documents on my phone, heh. I instead installed a textpad editor that was free. Oh well, great deal for anyone who needs its functionality. However the 2 icon thing is kind of annoying.

Anybody else get an error when you try to download the full version? I keep getting an "Error 404 - Not Found" whenever I try. I've already emailed the developer, but I'm not sure if they'll respond before the 24-hour refund period. I purchased it last night.

Try and download another app, just grab a free one and see if it has any issues. The apps are hosted on googles server and not on the developers site.

If you haven't done so, download the trial. If you purchased the key before downloading the trial then you don't actually have the software on your phone, just the key.

There are 2 icons under programs. 1 called Documents to Go and 1 called Documents to Go Full Version (with a key picture on it).

    FWIW:

I am able to open docx, xlsx, and pptx files using just quickoffice. Must be something they have incorporated into 2.1.

Thanks. I totally bypassed the whole trial version and didn't even think to do that when I was getting the error. Now I feel like an idiot.

I just got my Incredible yesterday. I cannot view any word or office documents in either quickoffice or documents to go. Quickoffice says unable to open and documents to go says it is not a valid MS Office 97-2008 file. It is a 97-2003 file and should open. I am using vista on my computer. Any thoughts???

    thanks
    Saul

Ignoring price, what one is better functionality wise? Quickoffice came preinstalled on my Dinc, don't know if thats a gimped version or not.
