I understand how pointless antivirus software is for mobile phones, especially on an non-rooted phone, however I was wondering if it detected the child tracking and "spying" applications to read text messages, record phone calls etc.

I am in a situation where my friend believes that her crazy mother is using a GPS locator on her Incredible (sprint) and other intrusive things to stalk her 20 year old daughter.

If antivirus software is not a means of detection, can anyone give me a few suggestions?

Is there a way that this could have been remotely installed?

is there a means of removal?

    Thanks in advance!

It's not a virus so it won't detect it :)

    Yes.

Tracking software would show up in your programs list like any other and should be removable the same as any other.

Also, while GPS tracking is active the GPS icon should be visible in the status bar.

If she is 20 years old she needs to take legal action if her mother is doing this. That is an invasion of privacy. Having said that, why not just turn GPS off on the phone?

You're assuming that something was installed. All her mother needs to know is her phone number and the phone can be tracked.
