ha I know about living on them! these days I try to confine my self to only a couple channels.

it would be cool to have some place for anyone who is actively trying to debug and other optimus m system related issues. a place to learn more and share about our phones.

i suppose just jumping on freenode and creating a room i guess can be a start? but what to call it?!(well maybe not freenode.. but there are plenty out there)

from what ive learned on this forum, people usually dont want to teach you anything.mostly you will just get common answers to common questions.as for people sharing info about debugging, rom making, theming and all the "good" stuff, nobody wants to share any of this info..ive been looking for a place to learn more stuff about android but all i ever get is "google it".lol we do Need a thread dedicated to just sharing info!:)

or even better,a live chat like you said..that would be pimp..then people would have more to offer other dev's when it comes to pushing out roms/updates.

I've been lurking since I got my phone back in February, and yea it seems that people don't like to "help" and that's understandable. A lot of the devs do this stuff simply by trial and error or scrapping google for any info they can find. and becuase it can take so much time out of the day fixing bugs, they like to be compensated or "thanked" in some way. cool beans. Though it would be nice to get paid for software and coding, I'm very much about open source and teaching others who don't know where to start. None of this would be here right now if it weren't for open source.

One part that sucks about google is that it has self interest in protecting it's contracts with other corps. so searching for this info is not as easy as one would think. learning google search operators are necessary.

I recently have been having alot of "timeoff" so I've been using anytime i have to dig through the roms and and see what changes have been being made to the files. The more we can share on what we find together and what changes were made can only stand to further develop our phones.

I must also say even though I like helping I'm not one that is very patient with laziness :p. As far as helping noob questions, that's when they should be directed toward the available information already on the forums. an active chat room/irc channel helps to keep the forums from unnecessary topics.

If you want to start debugging you need to familiarize yourself with some Linux terminal commands. Here's a freebee. Run dmesg in your terminal emulator and have fun!

I run slackware 13 and if I need windows, which is very seldom(my wife needs it because coupon site plugins don't support Linux) I use virtualbox. I'm down for an irc channel. I started back in the bitchx days. Make it freenode I can check in the slack channel too :) and make sure I get ops ;)
