Does anyone actually love this phone?

I see tons of complaints, and realize usually the complainers are loudest, but I don't see a lot of love for this phone, is it actually just a peice of junk?

I was impressed upon initial inspection, but didn't buy, wanted to do some research first.

Maybe I will just wait on the iPhone 4...

I really like some bits of it but I find software issues hugely frustrating.

I probably feel I should have bought a Desire. I'm considering swapping it for a Desire HD when they're out.

The quality of the screen (brightness, colours etc), is very very nice though. The high point.

I absolutely love the phone. I have had to root and apply a lag fix but since I have it has been a dream. Lag was my only major gripe beforehand and now that that issue is solved I cannot complain.

Head and shoulders above everything else I have owned and I wouldn't swap it.
I was a Sony Ericsson fan pre smart phones and HTC since. I always dislike Samsung but boy have they won me over.

While I have had no problems with Samsung Kies, it is full of bloatware and is slow. Works better than HTC Sync did for me though.

LOVE my Galaxy Vibrant. Downloaded free books on the kindle app in seconds, downloaded a bunch of free mp3s from Amazon that were automatically added to my song list in media player with album art. Listened to Pandora through my car stereo on the way in this morning. Watched some incredible youtube HD videos yesterday. Checked my minutes to see what I have left. Love the wifi analyzer. Listened to police scanner the other day. Loving the Public radio app and Yelp, Calendar, Google Talk, weather radar app, Internet radio app, Gmail, facebook. It all works effortlessly and wicked fast over wifi. I tested speed on my wifi last night and got an unbelievable 14 Meg download reading. Just an amazing phone.

I have one minor complaint at the moment. There is an option in calendar to exclude events I have declined. I have this option checked but I am still seeing declined facebook events in my calendar. Other than that, could not be happier.

I would say the majority of the things you like are 'Android' related, not Galaxy S related.

I love Android, I'm just not in love with the Galaxy S.

Yep, my first experience with Android so can't say really how much is the phone vs Android, but they seem to work well together and fast especially over wifi. Would like an led message light and wish the battery lasted longer, but i have two backups so I just pop a new one in every 12 hours. Really, really love this phone. The screen is just amazing. I wish I could swipe a little shorter to answer the phone or unlock the screen, but I set the option to hit any key to answer so now I just tap the menu bar at the bottom to answer calls. Minor complaints, awesome phone.

Interesting distinction. I to moved from a Palm, running Win-Mo, to this Galaxy S and Android, so it's hard for me to distinguish the two. However, when I think about it, I can honestly say that I do LOVE this phone. It's processor is super fast; it's extremely lightweight; the camera works great for me; I cruise through texts with SWYPE now; it slips into my shirt or jeans pocket (with case on) with ease; and the screen is friggin' rad plus under Gorilla Glass. Android synched with my MBpro quite nicely as well. If Froyo is the fix everyone's planning it to be, this phone will be spectacular.

However, Machead, if you're looking for a reason to not buy the iPhone. I wouldn't bother. Just get that and stop worrying about it. You can’t go wrong with that one. But if you're down with Android, I don’t think you can go wrong with the SGS either. It's a true Superphone.

Nope!! Its just been around 15-20 days and I would sell it if I get a good rate and maybe would try HTC Desire or something.

I can root and flash custom rom rather easily. I applied supercurio's voodoo fix on jh1 with doc rambone's rom and now the phone is lag free. I love my galaxy s!

Best phone I have had in over 20 years of owning them. It has some minor issues but so has every phone I have had.

I love my SGS. It leaves my Nokia E71 for dead and is the best phone i have ever owned :p. I'm still learning how to use it (only had it a week) but so far it is AWESOME!!

    Hi,

My first post here, and this galaxy S is my my first android/samsung phone. Was a nokia user since 1997 and never actually liked any other brand. My last two phones were a E70 and E71 and moved to this one. I actually like this phone, and android.

Was waiting for nokia for a good device, but it did not came.

I am happy with this till now. Wish the battery life could have been a bit better.

Soooooo much love for this phone. Granted, it is my first android and i despise anything with an 'i' in front of it. i used to be a sony person and owned an older htc and they were both ok but this thing has blown my mind.

I had no problem with the lag until i found this forum and noticed it but will be doing a lag fix and will be stoked..

From an i7500 owner...does anyone feel burned (yet) by Samsung? I'd imagine it's too soon for that. I vowed not to buy anything from them again because they essentially abandoned us, but this phone looks to be the best out there, lag issue notwithstanding.

    I love my SGS!.
It's the best phone I've owned since the iPhone first gen.

Other phones I've used lately:- iPhone 3g, iPhone 3GS, Blackberry Bold 9700, Nokia E72, Galaxy Spica.

I'm giving this phone serious amounts of dribbling love...

I have the lag issues though, and I can't get it to boot up into recovery mode, I've downloaded the one click fix and rooted it, but when I restart pressing the main button+sound up+on button...I just get the Galaxy S flash screen. The lag is becoing a real pain in the ass...anyone any suggestions?

    Thanks

    No, at least I don't.
But that's how these things go and how they'll go in the future. In just few months even this device will be obsolete, I'm afraid.
Basically it's one's own choice to follow the wave of technology or not.
