Does anyone actually use the trackball? I never do, except when I accidentally brush my finger over it. Unless it has functions I haven't discovered, everything it does can be more easily done in another way. Or am I missing something?

Only time I've used it is on web pages with lots of links cramped closely together, to select the correct one. It works pretty well for that, saves me having to zoom the screen in and then still possibly hitting the wrong link. Other than that, ditto, I usually forget it's there.

I just tap on screen as to where i want to edit the text, might take a bit of getting used to with the accuracy of it but its pretty simple

i hardly ever use the trackball. one thing that does bug me about the trackball is the control system.

normally, if i want to go to the left, i swipe the screen from left to right. however, if i use the trackball, i have to swipe from right to left.

or maybe i missed something in the settings.

Only really used for the cursor here too, and also the odd link clicking in the web browser.

lol, i didn't even know you could do that. I just pressed where i wanted to edit.

I find i use the trackball to move across the options, like when in "people" and choosing "all" | "groups" | "online directory" etc.

I use the volume keys, but thanks for that. That's one of the things I didn't know it could do.

I use it for moving the text cursor about when typing text since my fat fingers aren't accurate enough to do it with the touchscreen.

I'm not a huge user of the trackball/trackpad. However, this thread has opened my eyes to how it can be used to good effect, the same goes for the volume keys! :D

I mostly use to scroll down ocassionally on a web page if i dont want to smudge the screen.

  19. Good point! I've been struggling with that! Now I know - thanks!

  20. Just tried my vol keys, but it only changes the ringer volume - D'oh!

Only for txts and emails to reposition the cursor on spelling errors, otherwise I forget it's there until I use the camera.

It shouldn't. When you're in the text composition box in messages, you should be able to move backwards and forwards in the text you've entered. I've just double checked on my phone, and I certainly can.

its pretty neat actually. very sensitive scrolling between homescreens. usefull while typing and browsing. occasional show-off to noobs who doesnt realise how the screens move without them even touching the screen :)

Yeah, I use it to flick between screens! At first I used it too slowly and it didn't work too well, but if you just slide your thumb quickly across it, it's a neat way of changing screen. I wish it lit up though, a terminator style red light appearing when a new message came in would be fab :)
