Does ' factory reconditioned phone '...

Looks like new or actually looks like it's been used / scratches everywhere / etc? I'm currently waiting for my replacement phone and was just wondering... cause' my current one is pretty much still perfect - no scratches, dents, or anything but if the replacement one looks like shit I'd be * sad face * =(

I just got a reconditioned phone yesterday, it has scratches all over the bottom portion of it.
It turns out that I don't even need it, because I finally got my phone to update so I will be sending the replacement back.
But it all depends on your luck, some people will get a brand-new looking phone or an actual brand new one, if they don't have any used ones.

Usually it is a clean outside and usually the problems have been fixed. But no one will comment on whether the battery is going to be new, or half dead. Anyone got the poop on that?

We gotta keep our current backplate / battery cover thingy and the battery itself cause' the replacement does not come with those 2 things mentioned.

George - Just a word of advice. I once returned to AT&T the replacement phone instead of the phone that was intended to be replaced. It screwed up their system so badly that they charged me for the replacement phone because I did not return the one they expected. Advise you to make it clear to AT&T in writing that you are returning the replacement phone and not the phone that you thought you needed to replace. Hope this helps.

SoCADesertRat, thanks for the headsup, I was planning on calling AT&T first to let them know I am returning their phone first before sending it back.

All other questions that people had:
Yes, the re-conditioned phone had that sticker on the screen, even though the phone was used. If yours looks brand new it is possible it is brand new, if they didn't have any refurbished ones to send you.
The phone will come without the battery and without the back cover, AT&T makes your re-use yours.

lilbluu,

I did speak with the so-called Android specialist who knew nothing about Android and even less about Captivate. She didn't even know there was an issue with GPS and also said they didn't recommend that update without giving me a reason.
I then asked for a manager who transferred me over to the warranty department manager who setup the return.
