Ever since I update to Jelly bean 4.2.1, I find that if the available free storage space dips before 2.5GB, the tablet starts to run very slowly. Not so slow as to be unusable, but definitely not as snappy. If I start to delete some media files until the storage space returns to > 3GB, it feels fine again. That kind of reminds me of old Windows. Does Android use virtual memory?

I think you are right, mine was the same way... part if the reason why I got a 32 gig. Always runs snappy now..

That is indeed a known issue with the 16GB model, neither the 32 nor 8GB models suffer from this AFAIK. This is almost certainly a hardware issue so I'm afraid there's not much that can be done besides keeping it over 3GB.
