Root Does root affect Battery mode in Battery settings?

I rooted yesterday but can no longer adjust the battery mode presets. I touch any one of them and nothing changes. Is this due to Root? I used z4Root (downloaded from XDA) I used Titanium back up to remove the following (after backing them up) Kindle, amazonmp3, city id, Madden, blockbuster, VZ Navigator.

If you freeze or remove all the bloat that vzw adds then your battery life should improve as all those applications won't be running.

Did a battery pull and things are better. All delted aps were backed up with titanium backup before deleted so I can restore them... I have also installed jrumy Droid X Overclock app, but I haven't started playing with it yet.

root shouldn't affect your battery settings

a different ROM might, but not on stock ROM

It DRAMATICALLY did! Before, I struggled to get 14 hours. After I 'm getting nearly 22.
