Root Does Skype work on custom ROMs?

I've heard Skype is a little picky about which phones it works on, and I've noticed when doing a regular Astro backup of my apps that Skype is listed as being 'protected.' Does skype have any trouble running on custom ROMs?

I've never had an issue w/ Skype working on any ROM. If you got to Settings > Applications the first option should be Unknown Sources. Check that box and you should be able to install Skype. Also, if you're in Astro and try to install and it blocks it, it should take you right to Applications, anyway.

I mean, Astro won't even back it up, skype won't let it.

But thanks, that's what I was looking for. I use skype a fair amount, and didn't want to lose it if I switched to a custom ROM

I've never backuped apps through Astro, I've just used Titanium Backup.

I know what ya mean about Swype. I was unfairly critical about it when I first started using it, and then the first time I couldn't load it, I was about to have a nervous breakdown. lol
