I notice that Spare Parts came with a Task Management option. I was wondering if anyone has seen a conflict between using Spare Parts and AutoKiller which seems to have the same job except with more features?

Where in Spare Parts do you see a Task Manager?

In any case, I'm of the camp that believes you should let Android manage tasks, add-on managers not needed...

AutoKiller uses the Android task management, just changes the thresholds at which Android kicks apps out.

    Click the 'Spare Parts' icon
Scroll down until you see 'Task Management', Click 'Task Management'
It will then give you the option of Normal or Aggressive

Now if you have the AutoKiller App, you see the same thing when you click the options button then presets except you get: system default, moderate, optimum, strict, aggressive, and extreme.

I am wondering that if you have spare parts should you uninstall autokiller or vice versa because of any conflicts of two programs doing the same thing in the background.

You'll find that Spare Parts can have different options depending on what ROM you are running. I have JRummy's CM Remix V0.8 (Based on Cyanogen 5.0.7.1) and I don't have an option for "task management" anywhere in Spare Parts. For that matter, I don't ever remember seeing it.

    What ROM are you running?

I do use task management (SystemPanel Beta free from the market) because I like to free up RAM prior to loading a game or something like that. Maybe it is unnecessary but I do it anyway...but I'm an old school winmo guy that has always HAD TO constantly close out background apps

Same here...running CM 5.0.7.1, and Spare Parts does not include a Task Management option...

Everything I've experienced leads me to believe Android will free RAM as required well enough for my purposes...I never noticed any difference in performance running or not running task management. But the one rule in Droidland seems to be YMMV. :)

I was pretty sure that it wasn't an option in every ROM. I don't think it was included in NexTheme. My question is, if anyone knows what happens if two task management applications are running at once. Will there be any conflicts? Should I uninstall AutoKiller or should I just leave it as is?

Honestly, I don't know if this would cause conflicts but I don't see why it would. If one of the Task managers kills an app, it would disappear from the list of running apps in the other manager. I don't see where the conflict could occur.

Makes sense...you are doubling up your task monitoring, which itself will take memory and battery.

But on the plus side, if both task managers kill the app at the same time, won't you free twice as much memory? ;)

I'm pretty sure that task management thats embedded in spare parts was from Petes bugless beast 1.0/1.1 which nexbeast is built off of. As far as the original question I have no real answer except that I have been on BB1.1 for 2-3 days now and have not installed a task manager and the phone is faster now than any other time I have owned it.
