Apps Does uninstalling an app leave things behind?

I did a quick forum/google search and could not find much info, but I was wondering if constantly installing and uninstalling apps had any negative effect on the phone (such as leaving random registry things, data, etc. behind).

Would you guys recommend a factory reset every so often to clean things up?

You can look on your SD card, most apps seem to store data on there in folders that are usually labeled approrpiately.
