For those folks with these 1600 mAh miracle batteries, from a terminal emulator app or ADB shell (root is not required), enter the command:

    Code:

    cat /sys/class/power_supply/battery/batt_attr_text

The number you see listed as "FULL(mAh):" is the real capacity that the battery is reporting to the OS. I'm guessing that no one will see a number much greater than 1230.

Likewise, check your ORIGINAL OEM HTC battery. the FULL(mAh) should report 1230.

And if you've bought the generic replacement batteries off Ebay from sellers such as hk_plaza and internetrader, its unlikely you'll see these "Advertised 1600mAh batteries" not much more than 990-1000mAh.

I'd be interested to know what these SEIDIO batteries are reporting for users that have bought them.....

that's unreal. i haven't picked up an extended battery just yet but i have heard about these fake batteries being sold on ebay.
i'm just hoping HTC makes an official extended battery for the inspire soon.

That command line is the best way to determine if you have a fake or counterfeit battery.

Seidio reports 1230 just like OEM. The full number is the design capacity. It's possible to screen batteries to find those that perform a little better than their nominal design parameters. Presumably that's what Seidio does.

To assume based on reason (as opposed to prejudice, emotion, hearsay, or random speculation).
