I know there are quite a few folks saying that it's ok to use the stock battery cover with the Verizon extended battery for Droid X, but I'd strongly suggest against it.

After reading these posts, I tried using stock cover when my new extended battery arrived. My initial thought was that it fit just fine, albeit a bit tight. A few days later I noticed some weirdness in the middle of the display when touching or swiping the screen - kind of a "liquidy" looking blob while I touched it. I assumed it was my Steinheil Ultra Crystal coming loose but, after removing it, I discovered that the problem was under the display. So I removed the stock battery cover and replaced it with the cover which came with my extended battery, and the problem disappeared.

Obviously, the stock cover was applying pressure to the extended battery and pushing it into the back of the display. Not a good thing. So even if you think it fits, I'm now 99% certain it's a potential hazard.

Anyway, just a heads up. ;)
