    Hi all,
I am currently using a Windows Mobile 6.0 device & planning to move to an Android phone.
I have a doubt regarding syncing my contacts with Gmail. Suppose I export my contacts to a CSV (via Outlook) and upload the contacts in Gmail.
Considering that I have a person by the name John in my Gmail already, and I also had his number stored in my phone, when I sync with Gmail will I have 2 entries by that name or they will be merged??

Is there any app/option (in Samsung Galaxy S) thru which I can merge these entries, because having 2 persons by the same name is of no use to me(especially the entry which has no phone number associated with it)..

    Pls help.

It depends how close the entries match.
Loading a csv will merge contacts if they match enough.

however in the web interface of gmail, it's really easy to merge them there. you can highlight several entries and click merge.

You can edit your contacts once you've uploaded the CSV. It's not like they're written in stone once the CSV is uploaded. ;)
