Downgrading my droid from 2.1 to 2.0.1

I am trying to root my droid. I have done the manual update to 2.1. I want to know if I need to downgrade. If I do then how do I do it. Or if I can just root it can someone please help me find out how. I want to be able to tether to my ipad as well. if someone could help me outline how to do these things I would really appreciate it. I also want to know what features I will be disabling because there are some features that I am not willing to sacrifice.

You will have to flash to 2.0.1 using this guide

However i would read through the all things root (droid) sub forum to know what your getting yourself into.

As for teather to the ipad im not sure. it has to be able to do an adhoc connection. i know you cant wifi tether one droid to another

Ive only seen that with pdanet but thats for a computer. Most rom come with wifi teathering.

Well if the ipad had USB then you could...buuuut it doesnt. I can tether to computers fine.

There's an app that lets a rooted phone tether via wifi..... ad hoc I am very happy.... now to flash to 2.0.1 and then root to 2.1

I'm pretty sure they rooted the 2.1 .Sbf file so no real reason yo go back to 2.0.1 then back up to 2.1

So.... does that mean I don't have to flash if I have the 2.1 sbf that is rooted?
If so then that solves a ton of issues.

they havent rooted 2.1 yet. only way to root is to flash 2.0.1 then use a rom to get 2.1

In the same boat as you, were your able to root and tether your iPad?
