I have issues testing my app. I uploaded the apk and obb files for the beta (built with Unity). I created a Google plus group and added myself as a tester. I downloaded the app through the tester app and all is well up to that point.

When I launch the app and it attempts to download the obb file I get the following error:

"Download failed because you may not have purchased this app"

I wonder what am I doing wrong?

Just a guess... try to clear cache from old builds. It may be a conflict of old/test obb data.

Thanks! Super noob question of the week, but how do I go about doing that?... Not much luck trying to google for it.

Settings --/> Apps --/> Select your app
    Clear data

Another thought too.. make sure the location of the obb is correct as well.

I upload the APK and OBB files through the developer console. Shouldn't that place them both in the correct places?

They SHOULD download to the correct spot. Can you verify that they are located in:
    <shared-storage>/Android/obb/<package-name>/

<shared-storage> is the path that is essentially this: getExternalStorageDirectory()
