Hi I just bought the Desire HD. Been trying to download files onto the phone from the net, but it doesn't allow me saying it needs to download a .txt file onto the SD card to download the file I want.
Why is that the case, why can't it use the available inbuilt memory?
I've just ordered a memory card, but for the mean time, how do I get around this?

You have to take into account the fact that the phone does not have a very large built in memory only 1.5gb of this a lot will already be taken up by system settings, apps, photos, videos, music and anything else you have on the phone. SO the chances are that there is not enough memory to actually download the file your wanting to.
I would try look into this as I suspect this could be the case.

    Hope this helps you.

I'm not sure its possible to store your own files on the phone's internal memory without tweaking or an app that will manage it for you.

All (or there abouts) android phones generally come with sdcard, and the OS is built around that fact.

Thought the DHD came with an 8Gig card as standard, unless you bought it second hand and the seller didn't include it in the deal.
