Downloading Applications from computer to Droid?

So I have downloaded an application for the Droid on my computer. I have connected the Droid to my computer and now I need to know what file to drop the application in so i can read it from my phone. Can anyone else me? if it helps it is an .apk format

create an app folder in your memory card. then download an app called androzip from market. open androzip and locate your new app folder on your card, then click install....good luck
