this post makes no sense, and really doesnt need a poll...

If you install apps from the market and want to back up the .apk files to your sdcard, install astro file manager and go to menu/tools/application manager, select the apps you want to save, and run the backup, the files will be in backup/apps, you can then copy them to your sdcard or leave them there.

eagle1. I know where you are coming from....It would be handy to be able to download to SD Card or USB or even direct to PC for the reason to install at a later date. There does not appear to an option to do this.
To have to install an App to then make a backup then delete the App seems a backward step.

I didnt mean any offense, sorry.

As said, you cant just save apps from the market to the sdcard, you have to install them and then use some kind of backup app, astro, mybackup pro, titanium backup etc. to save the app as an .apk file. You can then reinstall the app from this file later if you have uninstalled it.

    goodluck.

Generally if you buy an app it will be saved on on your 'My apps' section In the market. You can uninstall and install as much as you like.

If you uninstall, only paid apps remain in your my apps section. There is no record of free apps. Same if you factory reset unless you make sure you have google back everything up which is an option at setup. I haven't seen the option after the fact. And this is all under the assumption you don't root and back things up with titanium or mybackup pro.

I never noticed that behavior. Not saying it isn't true, but I think the Amazon Appstore leaves everything available. I have only bought two apps, both from the market, but they all seem to me to be available.

I guess I haven't uninstalled (the only ones I did were the ones I paid for, and that is because they are the only ones giving me problems 8-|), which I think is what you are saying - uninstall a free app and it is no longer available from the My Apps tab.

I do back them up if I find them useful, however.
