I recently upgraded to a SGSII. I have been trying to download an MPEG file via a link in a website. Each time I try I get a "download failed" message in the downloader. I have tried installing Astro downloader and enabling all browser downloads but this has not solved the problem.

    Any suggestions?

The phone has a filter that stops all porn.

Great, thanks, that's really helpful. When i apologise to my niece for not being able to watch the video of her confirmation I'll be sure to pass on your pointless message.

Try downloading with dolphin browser rather that the stock browser. Works for me when I have a problem downloading anything.

I have always been able to download all file types. There was a thread similar to an issue like this, search the forum to see if you can find it.and see if it was resolved.

By the way, must your niece watch the video on your SGS II? Sure it can be watched on a PC.

What browser are u using for the download? Try Firefox and Dolphin to see if it works.
