This is Great News!!! We have a root before the phone is released.. Just hoping that they can unlock it soon also.

can someone go over what rooted, unlock, bootloader means??

is this mean we will have Cyanomod7 available on bionic?

Rooted: Able to be the root user of the system and access low level files.

Locked bootloader: Checks to see if what you are trying to flash is signed by Motorola.

Unlocked does not check so we can flash unsigned ROMs.

Being rooted is a step toward good things, but you need to be unlocked or have away around the bootloader to do things like CM7.

now that Bionic is rooted what is its chance of getting unlocked anytime soon??

from what ive seen(which is very little), it seems to be full of bloat ware.
like it has only 700 free memory. (i think SGSII has 900 free memory)

As if I had any doubt. :D And, as if I need yet ONE MORE REASON to obtain the beast on release day! mwahahahaha

I am getting really excited about a thriving Bionic community. I know most of you from the OG Droid forum and am glad to see that many of you will have the Bionic, as I also will finally be getting a new phone! It's gonna be fun!!!

Yup - I've managed to get mine ot last almost fully intact so I'm stoked about the new phone. Next will (probably) be the Prime for me, but I need a new phone now, and later on I will just want a new phone.

Nothing to be ashamed about. I moved from the Samsung Alias (original, black) to the DROID, so.... :p

We are all getting the Bionic either way, so who cares about our previous phones! This community will be great!

And Ill be glad to be a part of it :D My previous Phone(s) will be from Crackberries ... so Im making a huge jump! :p

This jump will not really be as huge as my previous jump - that was from show off Alias dump phone to the Moto DROID...

in terms of specs, well, that will always be a catastrophic jump lol - the hardware specs on these phones change faster than the wind can change direction!

Sigh. Hi, my name is Pru and I owned a pink Razr before my OG Droid. And don't even get me started with my phones before THAT. In my defense, in those days we had no choice, no Android. Yay Android!

Just called my local store, made an appointment to pick up my Bionic at 9AM on Thursday. I told Dean (Salesman at VZW) it is gonna be a hard sale... I still love my HTC Incredible but he said I Won't be disappointed.

guys i hate to rain on your parade but i would NOT root this device until you have a safe recovery method in case you brick it. ...ie a clokwork recovery for this phone is needed so you can do backup and restores. Also an SBF file to pull you out of Brick doom would be good too.

are you having any problems with the market? did you flash a ROM? on my DROID X w/OTA gingerbread that I rooted this way and then flashed with Apex the market kept giving me an error when trying to download a paid app.

true. good point. Just rooted on osx. I rooted my old droid x, but that was a few days ago and im still fairly new to it all.

Any luck with overclocking?

Yup, that's it. Just extract, make sure the drivers are installed and USB debugging is turned on, and set to charge only when you plug it in. Run it and you're rooted very simple prob took 3 minutes.

Pretty sure my issue was launcherpro or card related. For some reason it doesn't set to default like on my original droid. Haven't had any problems recently or need to reboot since it seems stable.
