The two high-ish rated apps that I can see that work with the droid are:
PRO Zoom Camera 5x
and Camera ZOOM FX.

Have people used these? Any feedback as to which is better and why?
Thanks

I use "Camera Magic" the quality is really good but sometimes it doesn't save the pictures.

I haven't use the others mentioned but heard lots of good things about Camera Zoom FX.

I currently use PRO Zoom Camera 5x and LOVE it!
But what the heck? I'm going to go pay for Camera ZOOM FX and give them a side-by-side test. I'm guessing they will perform very closely.

I'll report back tomorrow evening. :)

Update: I got Camera ZOOM FX. Like I stated, I'll report back tomorrow. Both apps seem to have there own set of pretty cool, usable features.

You's the man. I'm going to do the same, gotta love the 24 hour try out period.

Well ... I just took several pics at various zooms, and various lighting, and these are some of my findings.

Although it was my first time using the app (just bought it yesterday), Camera ZOOM FX has the best User Interface, hands down. It's extremely intuitive, has a boatload of options, available skins, add-ons like "props" and "buddies", and customizable controls. The thing I could NOT figure out is why Camera ZOOM FX takes 1728x1296 pics sometimes, even when I have the settings set for "Large" pics that are supposed to be 2592x1936. But yet, when I took a pic of a larger object, then I did get 2592x1936. This didn't happen with the other two apps.

Having said that, PRO Zoom Camera 5x ain't no slouch either. I like the interface, and it has some really cool editing features as well ... ones that Camera Zoom FX doesn't have.

Now for the important part. I don't know if EITHER of these apps takes "better" pics than the stock app. But their user interfaces and their editing capabilities make them both well-worth the money.

I will still be using the stock camera app as my VIDEO CAMERA interface.

Thanks for trying them out, Joe. Can you give us any information on the time between photos for these two apps? Which is faster?

+1 for PRO Zoom Camera 5X.

I have been using it for a number of months and it does everything I want. I have tried all the apps on the market. I'm sticking with Pro Zoom Camera for speed and quality - hands down.

I must be doing something wrong. I bought Pro Zoom camera 5x, and i don't get the options that I see on websites. I only have a tab for the filters at the top, and just the AF and Gallery button with the zoom slider at the bottom. There's no white balance setting, or timer buttion on the screen. I can't find an option to set them up in the preferences either.

Anyone else experiencing this?

For the people using Pro Zoom 5x, is this how it's supposed to be? A quarter of the screen on the right is black:

As for the white balance and scene settings, press filters than scroll to the right to find them. I havent found timer settings yet.

Edit: found the timer setting, hit menu when in picture mode, it's the first option on the left.

writhum,

Timer button/setting is in the android menu. When ready to take a pic, hit the physical "menu" key on your phone. The one with the little lines.

As for the black bar - yes I think it is supposed to be like that. Take a look at their website - I think they explain it there. www.popcrowd.com

Thanks! I never thought to try scrolling. And I also found the brightness/contrast settings. You have to edit the picture to get those settings.

I think I'll keep the software on my camera now.

Just thought I would update the thread with my experience using Pro Zoom Camera over the holidays. I have taken A LOT of photos of family and friends during Christmas and simply have to say I love this app.

The quality is great and last night I was doing some funny editing of pics making the whole family laugh like crazy. Pro Zoom rocks!
