General Droid HD already? Looks like a thinner, nicer Bionic.

    I hate you...lol

That thing is thin like the DX1 and 2...Might have the HD screen folks are salivating for now that havent even came out yet.

Its right along side the Bionic? My guess is its going to another carrier. T Mobile? If its a future phone....it seems to be ready right now...

Jroc there will always be phone coming that will be better then the one previous. Although I love the look of the phone. I can't see myself waiting another year for it.. I just had to bring my Storm1 back from the dead. I do not know how much longer it's got. So I got to get the Bionic...

    I know Preach...I know...lol

Times like this I hate being into gadgets so much....

Know what I noticed looking at the pics more? Looks like its running ICS. I'm pretty sure I dont see any capacitive buttons.

T Mobile is the only carrier that doesnt have a high end Motorola phone right now. I got a feeling its going there.

Color me deflated re: Bionic.. jeez.

Given that its already in handset form (as opposed to specs only) means its not too far away.. maybe before Christmas..

The huge difference between this and the bionic is the fact that this is equipped with a sim slot for global use, and the bionic has LTE. As someone who travels internationally, This is tthe phone I've been waiting for, a non keyboard, highly spec global roaming android phone on Verizon. (I had no interest in the Droid 2 WE or Droid Pro due to their keyboards, though the Inc 2 would have also been a decent option).

I would agree, except that it appears to be named the Droid HD. As far as I know, the "Droid" naming scheme is exclusive to Verizon, which to me suggests the beast is headed for Verizon. And that makes the Bionic even more underwhelming in comparison.

I might be wrong but I'm wondering if it is really global or whoever sent the pictures in thought it was global because of the sim slot. LTE devices require a sim card too. If this is really for the "Droid" line then it is for Verizon. I Just don't see how they were able to squeeze a CDMA, LTE, and GSM radio into something that thin when all the LTE phones, so far, have been so thick because of the LTE radio.

    Good catch!

I was already going to pass on the Bionic but with all of the leaked pictures recently I was starting to think otherwise.

Now I see this and I think I'm back playing the waiting game again for the Vigor, Prime, SGS2, and now the Droid HD.

Right, because the Bionic was ready soon after we saw it in handset form at CES in January, right?

Eh, I'm not too bothered. At the rate Moto works, the Droid HD will be ready by the time I'm up for my NEXT upgrade.

    Edit:

I saw the picture of the Bionic battery (you can tell it's the Bionic because of the camera, as Rockstar said). WHY THE FRAK can't anyone take a picture of the label that says how big the stupid battery is???

Also, if anyone cares, you can tell by looking at the battery indicator in Pic 1 that it is, again, a PenTile display. So if it is HD, it's obvious they'll still have pixelation problems.

I really don't see the big upside to this compared with the Bionic, unless it has 2 GB RAM and greater than 1.5 GHz dual core or even quad-core. Yeah, it's thinner, but still not as thin as the SGSII.

The big thing that will get me to drop Bionic is if the SGSII has LTE. This Droid HD is nice, but not a game changer, in my opinion. Of course, we still know next to nothing about it, so I might be completely wrong.

I do like the sharper angles on the sides, though.

This is certainly correct. I don't think there's any chance of a phone with CDMA/LTE and GSM any time soon (within next 6-9 months), but was Engadget was the first to report and had called it a Global Capaable device so I took the sim to be for the GSM radio, but it could just as easily be for the LTE. Guess we'll have to wait to find out.

Absolutely right. I see the Welcome to Droid HD on the start up screen now.

I highly doubt this phone is 4G capable. Yes, LTE uses sim, but I haven't seen a side-loaded 4G sim card slot in any phone. You don't need to switch it out like you would a normal sim card; that's why it's been by the battery in all 4G phones.

Also, the thinness of the design just screams 3G. Are we to expect that after spending almost a year trying to perfect their 4G chipset to play nice with the processor, Moto all of a sudden created this ultra-thin 4G chip set before the Bionic was even released? Highly doubtful.

I'm starting to think that the US version of the SGSII is not going to be 4G, and Moto will release this ultra-thin 3G Droid HD to compete directly with the SGSII and iPhone 5 on similar price points as those 2 phones, probably at $199.

The Bionic will still be the only dual core 4G phone, most likely at $299.

Just my two cents, but it makes sense if you think about it.

That's a pretty good analysis. Whatever this thing is, I'm not waiting for it. I'm getting whatever comes out first. :D

Doesn't matter whether the thread gets deleted; anybody who would want to know already knew as soon as it was posted. Not to mention google cache.

I thought it odd to see the sticker w/presumably unique identifying info. If there was a nondisclosure involved, that person is toast.

I agree and think you are probably right about it NOT being a 4G LTE device. It would certainly seem odd to release another one, only a mere few months after the Bionic...which would be competing amongst each other and killing their potential overall sales.
