I really wish Costco allowed you to backorder. Instead, their website just has an out of stock button. I'm sure it's sold out everywhere?

A phone that just came out isn't in stock!?

Of course not... please search next time before posting.

Agreed. There are several threads that already are discussing the limited supply. Be patient, as it seems more B&M stores are receiving stock throughout the week.

I did search. The thread about status of orders wasn't appropriate as I don't have one.

It would be a lot easier to search if there weren't so many threads cluttered up with posts about how the person should have used the search button...

Why? Several have already confirmed that they've placed orders only to find out there isn't any current stock on hand, and now have to wait until August to receive their device.

I know your situation sucks, but you aren't alone.

Now I'm anxious to get in under the wire before VZW changes the unlimited data plans.

Walmart is honestly your best bet. I tried calling all the Costcos and Best Buys within 40 miles of me and had no luck. I just called two different Walmarts in my area. One has two, the other has 1.

Not to mention at Walmart, it would be a flat $199.99 instead of paying $299.99 with a mail-in rebate.

Now it would be nice if the search function were working today. :( I keep getting a timeout. I'm curious how Walmart's LetsTalk service works in conjunction with VZW. I don't want to disturb the employer discount I'm getting on service.

Try Amazon or do a search for it to identify more online retailers.

You know that is a total rumor right? I'm sure Verizon will eventually move to a tiered plan. They might even announce it by the end of the month (although I think that is unlikely). But it isn't going to change the day they announce it. There will be a period of time after the official annoucement and before the actual tiered rate plan goes into effect.

I'm in the same boat as you, but am willing to wait until the official annoucement from Verizon comes out before I start panicing.

That makes sense. I thought I read an article that it would go into effect 7/29.

It won't affect your employer discount. However, you won't be able to make any plan changes for the first 6 months or you may end up owing LetsTalk $250 in lost commission.

D'oh! Costco.com has taken it off the site entirely as they don't know when to expect inventory. I'm going to have to keep checking...

I'd suggest hitting up your local store to see what the VZW Kiosk is saying. I remember when the first LG Envy was released and I had a hell of a time finding one in stock at my local VZWs. I called up Costco, and sure enough they kept getting a supply but very few people coming in and purchasing.

I called them and they don't have anything yet. I'll just have to keep trying. I see one of the Costco benefits is free new activation. Is there a VZW activation charge for existing customers? I'm inclined to keep trying Costco because the free car charger is a nice benefit.

NewEgg has them in stock for $179.99. I ordered mine a couple days ago, it shipped yesterday with free shipping and it's going to be here tomorrow (could have been here today because the starting facility is only 4 hours ago, but the truck apparently stopped at another facility overnight).

I don't understand why people think Droid X's have fallen off the planet. Try different stores other than Verizon, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc.

Wow, had no idea. The $20 savings may make up the difference for a car charger...

Finally! I was able to place a Costco.com order. It was trying to make me buy a 3G mobile hotspot plan for $20. I have no interest in that. I was forced to make the selection that my existing data plan is compatible.

I have to wait for my next Droid X to come in now. Boooooo! I'm waiting for the new one so I can return my current one because I pulled the battery tab out.

Is that thing really that misleading that so many people are pulling it out?

How does activation work when you order online? Do you still have to go into a VZW store? I'll have to anyway to get my contacts transferred I guess. Unless they can just download from the backup service.
