Now my screen works. I can go from horizontal to vertical while on the internet. But while I'm the main screen it wont tilt. Is this normal?

Yes when using the stock home app.

There are other home replacements, home++ being my favorite, that allow you to rotate it, but I find that keeping it in portrait mode is easier to use.

Yes, that is normal. My home screen does go into landscape mode when it is in the multimedia and car docks.

There was a big discussion about this way back in November when a lot of people got their phones. There were some that said their screen rotated to landscape on the home screen. Others said it only rotated on the homescreen if the keyboard was opened. I think the general consensus was that it is normal to NOT rotate to landscape on the homescreen.

You see, that worries me, I have home++ and it'll only stay in portrait.

Oh, you know what? I figured it out. I had to switch home++ to follow the orientation settings in sound and display

I do have a desktop widget for toggling that setting. I think it came with Beautiful Widgets ... don't remember. There are several to be had on the Market.. I turn auto-orientation OFF when I'm in bed. Umm ... don't ask. :D
