Head to the Dropbox forums to get in on it. Limited to first 500 to sign up.
Just downloaded it and
Looks like there's some bugs with taking and uploading pics and videos directly from the app on some phones.
Otherwise it's looking good.
It doesn't actually sync anything to the phone like it does on all the computers you have the program on. It only downloads things when you click on it to view.
Figures I go sign into my profile and then go to it but it's full ..... oh well
I don't use my Dropbox for pics and videos, so I'm not worried about that.
I am pretty sure it works the same (downloading on demand) on the iPhone, so I would expect it to stay that way. And it's OK by me. For how I use it, it's perfectly satisfactory. Of course, YMMV.
Yeah, I agree that it's a good thing that it works that way. Just pointing it out for people that are expecting it to be more like the desktop version.
I guess I will have to play with it more.... I have a 7z file (similar to WinZip, but better). When I click on the file, I just have an option to view it. I don't want to view it, I want to download it to my phone. I haven't figured out how to do that yet.....
can we get an apk?
The apk won't do you any good unless you have signed up for the beta on Dropbox's forums.
Install Androzip on your phone. When you click on the .7z file it will download and then open androzip. Then you can navigate to the /dropbox folder and it should be there.
edit: it will still download the file without having Androzip installed. It just gives that message because it doesn't know what to open the file with.
Damn it, missed out on the beta but can't wait to try the new android app!
If anyone else wants to use my referral link for an additional free 250MB of storage (for both of us) please
sign up through my link
Thanks, I will give that a try. But what about files that do not have an editor on Android? It would be nice to be able to upload / download any type of file.
Looking forward for this one. DropBox has been a real asset in keeping up with my work files.
Managed to get into the beta, and it seems to work well ... and Dropbox has already released a bugfix upgrade, so they're giving it lots of attention.
Darn it, it's full
Too bad I didn't see this before now, but at least it means we're nearing a release!
What exactly is dropbox?
Just a note guys, do not turn this into a "sign up using my referral" thread.
If it doesn't "sync" files automatically, what makes this better than DroidBox Pro?
