At a concert last night and was trying to take a picture when my awesome Fascinate went head first into about an inch deep of red red wine for about 2 seconds. I quickly took it to the bathroom, took out the battery and wiped it all down as best I could, put the battery back in and it powered right up! I love that phone! It was all fine and good last night when I went to sleep, but when I woke up it had a backlit fuzzy gray lcd screen. I tried powering it down by removing the battery again, but no avail. It's sitting in a bag of rice right now, but I think maybe I should try cleaning the inside of what is probably some sticky red wine inside the booger now.

Does anyone know how to take one of these apart and which parts to clean and with what? Maybe some rubbing alcohol or something?

Thanks guys. You all are awesome here and I just know someone's going to have the to answer to revive my little beauty. :)

    Was it a UB40 concert? :D

All kidding aside I am going to assume there is still some residue as you stated that caused more problems after you powered it back on and continued to use it. I could be wrong.

What I would have done is take the battery out and clean it as good as possible and leave the battery out and when I got home clean it a little more if needed and put the phone in rice.

Again, I could be wrong but I am concerned the problem was powering it back on so quickly and using it the rest of the evening.

Not UB40, but I've been singing that song all day now! Ha!

So I ended up taking it to a cell phone repair shop locally here and they apparently fixed the liquid damage, but it was too late for the lcd. It's shot. Instead of spending $130 to fix that, I'm opting for an insurance replacement with Asurion. I've been paying for that service since I've been with Verizon over 3 years now, I guess it's a good thing I can take advantage of it. I'm grandfathered in under the old insurance plan that was $4.99/mo, so my deductible was only $50 instead of the current $99. THAT'S something to be happy about. :) Thanks again. And yes, from here on out, I know not to put the battery back in OR power it on in any way until it's thoroughly dry. The guy at the cell phone doctor said the same thing. Hopefully I won't ever dunk my phone in a glass of red again though!!
