Help Duplicate/broken contacts (FB, etc.) issues

Okay so yesterday I got the Evo LTE to replace my old Evo 4g. All went smoothly, though I ended up with a lot of duplicates which I took care of.

My problem is with my contacts and Facebook. Some of my contacts will say "linked" and show the picture from Facebook.

Others will show "Facebook" instead of "linked", have a broken chain. Some of these will have the picture from their Facebook, most won't. These contacts cannot be deleted or edited.

Others will say "phone" and have the broken chains, and the same as the ones that say Facebook. Some will show the profile picture, others won't. These can be deleted and edited.

The ones that say Facebook will sometimes have duplicates that say phone, and I cannot combine them together. So how do I organize my contacts better? Is this just a Google ICS thing that I'm screwing up? I just hate having duplicate contacts, and not having them with their photos...

In order to fix this I would first suggest, logging out of the facebook app. This way you can fix issues in the phonebook/contacts.

• Where are you saving contacts? To your google account or to the phone itself?

You do realize that when you add Facebook to the mix it's like adding another "account" to you device. So the contacts/phonebook application thinks there are duplicates and indicates that you should "link". I cannot remember why devices sometime use the pic from the phone and other times from Faebook.

Once you've cleared up all your contacts and are assured there are no duplicates, then log into facebook and see what happens.

So I logged out of facebook and fixed the phone/google contacts up. I had to edit a few for them to sync with each other but I eventually got them all organized. Then, once I logged back into facebook, I was able to sync facebook with my contacts. Some didn't sync automatically but I found it was slight differences in names, like using a middle name on one and not having it on another. But resyncing facebook like that immediately solved the no picture issues. Thanks!!!!!

Hi everyone,
How in the world do i link ppl to facebook, tango ect? i know how to get their pic from FB but it still shows unlinked tho when i go to there contact page.
Also how do i link multi. contacts to one person? i have a friend that has 3 separate contact pages how do i marge them together or link them together?

Help please,

A newbie question. I just got this phone and add 3 accounts ( work, Gmail nd lookout) after syncing them, I've now got triple contact entries. I went into people and deleted all the dups yesterday today there all back. I broke ( for lack of the correct term ) the gmail link on the dups also.

I know that there are a lot of posts on this. I can't resolve this problem. I got my new phone and added my accounts ( gmail, work n lookout ) synced it and I've now got 3 contacts each. Deleted ( pain in azz ) all but 1contact each broke the google link o and wala it's all back to the 3 contacts each. Very frustrating..... Any advice will be " greatly appreciated

The manual merging/linking of a Facebook contact to a Google contact in the phone doesn't seem to work at all.

I do have FB contacts sync-ed, a few of them auto-suggested a link (that I accepted), but I can't manually link anyone.

I followed the User Guide instructions. I tap the contact, I tap the little "broken chain" link icon, I tap to link to a FB contact, then I find the FB contact and tap it...and nothing. It just takes me back to the screen for linking a contact. I again see the option to link to a FB contact. And a "Done" button. But I don't see the FB person I just selected!

I am running the latest software update (2.13.651.1 710RD)

I was going through updating my contact icons and there is one that was a duplicate. When I exited out to see if I accidentally made a duplicate in the contacts there was only one. Same thing when I checked my icons on Gmail, only one contact. But everytime I go to update the icon there are two. Solutions?

Goto People, tap Phonebook at the top, see where else besides gmail you're getting contacts.

Betcha it's on your local phone storage or something like that.
