    Hi,

Can anyone recommend a DVD to MP4 converter application.

    Would prefer a free one.

Or would pay, but would expect a bit more, like something that'll also do CD
to FLAC/MP3 and add album art etc.

    thanks

    Try "Any Video Converter" (AVC).

Just try Wondershare's all in one DVD Ripper, DVD Burner and Video Converter software - Wondershare DVD Converter Ultimate, which could help you convert DVD to MP4 file and support the latest iPod Nano 5G (with build-in camera version) and iPod Touch 3G, iPhone OS 3.1 .

If you have a recent ATI video card, I think their current driver comes with a video conversion software. I'm not sure how good it is, but I'd assume it uses the GPU to accelerate things considerably. It's worth looking into at least.

Nvidia has something similar. It's a third party program called Badaboom that makes use of CUDA. It's what I currently use to convert videos for my Hero, mostly just because it's fast (20 minutes for a 2hr movie). That one isn't free though.
