It definitely looks iffy from those pics. I'll wait for final judegement until I can compare with my X in person though. Lots of folks seem to really like the qHD of the DX2 it seems.

Like the Amoled vs. LCD debates...its gonna be a matter of opinion.

Never had a smartphone? Screen might not bother you. Had smartphones for a few years? Have an HDTV? Prefer the HD channels so much to standard def ones? It might bother you...

And we were thru with the LCD vs. Amoled debates....lol. Here comes round 2....LCD vs. qHD....

I will say the sharpness is why I liked LCD screens over Amoled ones last year. Samsung did do good with the Super Amoled + screens tho. No screen door effect or its very minimal this time.

This one, it doesnt look too bad:

But zooming in might be another story when using the phone. I got the DX1 site unseen....I cant do that if I get the DX2...

Though I am having some issues with my DX2, the display is not one of them. Pick your poison: A sharper display (DX2), or a softer one (the samples). I have also seen comparisons to the TB by tech sites and the Charge. The DX2 blows the TB away and a FAR FAR FAR better outside than the Charge.

I like the display so much, I am trying to get my other issues fixed so do not have to return it.

Those pics are a joke. Those can be manipulated, easily. All I know is, My wife has the X1, and I have the 2. We both love the X2 screen more. Crisper, brighter, games look better. Its no comparsion.

I haven't looked at DX2 outside yet. But saying it's far better outside than Charge is a bit stretch I think. I have seen Fascinate outside many times and it's looking fairly clear and sharp even at 50% brightness. I should look at DX2 outside myself to see if it lives up to what you claim.

I own a Fascinate and used to own a Charge; the Fascinate was better outside.

Reason being, the Fascinate's brightness was significantly above the Charge. However, the Charge's clarity and color contrast was leagues ahead of the Fascinate. But for pure outdoor viewing comparison, the Charge at 100% and the Fascinate at 100% -- the Fascinate was easier to see. Not really a deal breaker or important facet to me...

That said, I'm picking up a Droid X2 tonight, so I can probably chime in on the outdoor viewing for that soon enough :)

Getting tired of these screen panic threads...then why do I keep looking at them?! :)

Time for more meds...

My wife loves her X2 screen, I have yet to find any flaws with it - bright, clear, really beautiful...

I was at a verizon store today. I have a DX but was considering getting a DX2 at full retail and giving the DX to my wife. After all, it's only $450 from verizon. That's not too bad for a dual core phone with a high res screen. But I was really disappointed when I actually saw the screen. It may have a higher resolution but I could not tell at all. In fact, it really looked pixelated. The shading and shadowing was also much worse than my DX. Side by side, there's no comparison. The DX is way sharper than the DX2 and just looked better overall.

This is obviously my personal opinion. Still, my advice to anyone considering getting this phone, especially anyone coming from the DX, would be to go take a look at the phone in person before getting it.

Do it! :)

definitely anyone upgrading from the DX1 to the DX2 needs to do as you say and go look at it in person.

DX2 looks better to me, but I appreciate the subjectivity in it, except cut & dry issues like I could barely see the Charge outside VZW, but the DX2 looked good.

Folks that assert objectivity where it can not be done practically, is where the bias rests

Reviewers like the screen a lot and so do picky semi-psychotic SOBs like me :) ;)

No fanboy hear, since I have been vocal about issues I am having with the DX2.
