Sorry I'm such a n00b. What is the EASIEST way to overclock?

I read this thread. Are all these steps necessary just to use setCPU?

If your phone is stock 2.2 you can overclock using that thread. But if your phone is a stock 2.2.1 you will not be able to overclock yet.

Since you have a rooted 2.2 then yes this is the way to OC. I know that for a noob it's a bit overwhelming, but if you follow all the steps carefully then you should be set.

If something should go wrong, help is here all you need to do is reach out and ask for it.

So I have asked this a few times on here and have yet to get an answer (no biggie). I love the way my phone is set up and if I flash all that crap to OC it what is the status afterwards. Would I have to reinstall all my apps and launcher and configure everything again, or does this process simply change what lies underneath the gui we see? Cuz Id love to be able to OC but I kill the battery as is and its not worth doing this if I have to reconfigure everything.

I dont know about the over clocking part, my phone has a stock 2.2.1 rom so there isnt an overclocked rom out for it at the present but when I rooted my phone I did lose all my info had to put it back.
But that could have been from my trial and error because when I flashed the new recovery and rom I did not lose the apps or contacts.

Yeah I have a rooted 2.2. So I only have to go through the custom recovery and kernel and stagefright flashing. Wondering what my status will be after those.

So in other words only the 2.2 rooted can be overclocked? so what about us people who have rooted the 2.2.1? just out of curiosity since it would be kinda nice to have a lil more omph to the phone lol.

Yes that is correct. 2.2.1 cannot be OC'd at this time but have no fear it's being worked on and the ability to do so should be coming soon.

That chicken eaters rom is great. I was running it until the new rom zero came out. The ability to overclock is a powerful motivator. But, once the chicken rom is okay to overclock, I'm going over there. =) I just hope that rom will flash to 2.2 and 2.2.1 stock phones.

Thank you for all your hard work!
