    Hello forum,

I would like to know how to add custom buttons, images, text etc.. to default applications in the android OS.

For example, if I install the skype application on my phone, it automatically adds a little skype button next to all my contacts that I have both in skype and my contact list.

Now, I would like to add an extra button to my 'messages' (default) application. I know this can be done by rooting the phone and changing the source code of the 'messages' application, but what do I do if I want to make this distributable i.e. create an application which will act like this, just like skype does?

    Thanks in advance,
