Editing gmail replies in-line?

    This is probably a moronic question, but within the Gmail app on the Droid, how do you reply to an email and then edit the text in-line with the quoted message? It seems that the section marked "quoted message" cannot be edited. Surely this is possible?

    I don't believe you can do this. Gmail treats these like threads (conversations) it must leave the original message in tact.

    Go to the online version of Gmail on your browser and see if you can edit the original message there. :rolleyes:

    Umm, yes, I can? You can't edit the Subject without creating a new thread, but there's never been any problem with editing the original message in Gmail. I guess that is just something the Android app for Gmail can't do?

    Yes did this through your Droid browser, right?

    Yes, no problems with doing this through Gmail on the Droid browser, or any browser. It's only using the Gmail app that's an issue.

    Has a solution been created for this? It's not just gmail in which quoted text cannot be edited. I hope it's not quoted text in an effort to disallow us from editing!
