Email and Text notifications

Can you have a one tone for email notifications and a different tone for text notifications?

Yes. When in the Gmail, Mail or Messages applications, click Menu/Settings. Then you can independently set whether to play a sound, which sound to play, and/or to vibrate. Nice level of control.

That I figured out. The problem is I want one sound for text notifications and a different one for email.

Yeah, I just told you how to do that.

Impaler just told you how to do it. Go into EACH program, hit menu, select settings and set the notification sound you want.

When I go to mail, then click settings/notification settings, I only have three choices:
email notifications, on or off
notification sound, on or off
notification vibration, on or off

No where there does it let you select which sound.

To change the text sound:

Open message widget and press the Menu button. Click Settings, scroll down until you get to Select Sound. This is where you can change it for texting.

To change the sound for email:

Email uses the "notification" sound so you will have to click on Menu from the Home screen, then Settings. Scroll and press Sound and Display. Scroll down until you find Notification Sound, this is where you change it.

To change the sound for gmail:

Open gmail widget and press the Menu button. Click Settings, scroll down until you get to Select ringtone. This is where you can change it for gmail.

Doing this, doesn't it change all of your notification sounds and not just email?

It will change anything that uses the "notification" sound.
