I don't think so, since POP downloads mails when checked (IIRC - been a long time since I've used it). With IMAP you can create subfolders of your inbox, which the HTC app can see.

I'm also wondering the same thing. I really want to save some of my e-mails. It appears that the HTC mail app cannot do this. It looks like in the gmail app you can archive e-mails. Is the only way to save e-mails using the gmail app or other mail app? It really is a shame, the HTC mail app is very limited.

Not really, the mail app just downloads new messages and brings them into your inbox on the phone. If you want to save them, you'd have to login to your normal web mail interface and organize the messages how you want there. This of course kind of kills the point of having that email on your phone...
