Before I went to bed last night I cleaned out my inbox of my POP3 inbox...
I left it with only 1 email, and when I got up this morning I found that my Droid did not receive any emails since.
I checked my computer email client and I had received 12 over night...
Once I opened the account on the Driod it started to receive all the over nights email.

Shouldn't the emails been pushed or sync automatically?
I have sync checked for every 5 minutes but it doesn't.

Also I chose to load more messages and I was surprised to see that allthe emails that I had deleted (or moved to the trash folder) were reloading as newly received messages.
    Is this right?
I would have thought hat once deleted from the inbox it wouldn't be re-synced in again.

LASTLY is there a way to or an app that will allow a me to delete all messages especially the ones in the trash folder, or do you need to check each one?

just curious, are you using a task killer at all?

Yes a app called Switch to Advanced Task Killer
Its manual not automatic, and the email is unchecked so when I kill apps its supposed to stay running.
Why could this be the problem?

I have experienced issues with my email not updating because I was "accidentally" killing the email apps. I know of two that I would ignore when using the task killer.

    "Gmail" and "Mail"

As of today, I dont actually use Advance Task Killer. Especially after reading this thread:

Anyway, I also used Task Panel. Some things that show up in Task Panel dont show up in ATK. "Mail" dosnt seem to show up in ATK but it does in Task Panel.

Anyway, be careful using Task Killers. You could be preventing some apps from updating correctly by killing them before they can do their job.

This could be the issue and I could be wrong. But this was a solution for me and I have had no issues with emails when I ignore both "Gmail" and "Mail" apps. A lot of people recommend not using Task Killers altogether....

Any chance that your email account can use IMAP instead of POP? IMAP is much more suited for multiple apps accessing it and might work better. Mine works fine and gets updated as expected.

Actually I am having a nightmare of a time with IMAP instead of POP mail. I'm using K-9 Mail. My Inbox for two of my work emails with IMAP doesn't seem to want to Mark All Read(Marks them read, then Unmarks everything as Unread). Then when I go delete them on the phone(Set to delete on phone, Mark Read on Server) it generates of bunch of K9Mail-errors in that named folder, items building up in the Trash and don't delete, and my Inbox never seems to really want to change the number of emails it says are new in it. My POP mail accounts seems to be working fine. I came from a Blackberry Storm and to be honest, the email runs soooo much smoother then on my new Droid. :(

We obviously have different situations and different server setups. I don't use mine as a primary email tool, more of a tool to let me know if I want or need to go to the pc and deal with it or if I can reply right then. I'm using the bundled email apps to handle Gmail, an IMAP account, and an Exchange account. I sometimes reply from the phone but usually I only need to read the mail and perhaps delete messages which will work very well.

Example is that when I delete junk on my IMAP account I can go to the pc and within seconds that message disappears from the account as shown on T-Bird. (drops into the Trash folder and I'll expunge later but is out of my way visually). The other is Gmail which works more like a BB, I get an instant push from Google. That mail normally requires me to login to a VPN to deal with the issue and the phone saves me a lot of time since I may or may not need to do something from the PC.
No it isn't BB style but for my needs it works great. I've tried fancier email apps in the past but the bundled does just fine and on the PC nothing beats T-Bird for my needs. Not fancy, just very fast and exactly the right thing. I haven't used POP for 10 years and I don't think I could ever go back to it. Exchange is an evil thing that I must use but even that works ok on the phone.
