email number

The top of my email screen shows "Inbox(nn)" where nn is a number that changes when downloading mail. Anyone know what that number represents?

The number of unread emails.

But the number decreases as messages are downloaded. If you were right, nunyazz, it would be increasing.

Well that is what the number is on my phone.
