Hi all,

My Desire S is faulty and is getting exchanged for a new one in a couple of days. I need to figure out a way of backing up as much as possible. I don't think I need to do contacts, do I, because they're all in gmail; i can ping my pictures across easily enough using blootueth and i don't mind re-downloading the apps but it would be nice to have network settings, preferences and so on transfer over. Are there any other things I should back up too? And how do I do it all in a hassle-free way please?

For apps, try appbrain in market, might need to create account via pc but it keeps a list of your apps and shortcuts to download them faster after a reinstall/new phone.

Pi.soft backup will take care of sms/mms/bookmarks/favorates

Apn backup will do your apn settings for sms/mms/data/internet settings.

As for homescreen settings, there is nothing unless you use a third party launcher like launcher pro, or open home our adw.launcher

Thanks fella!
I've actually spent most of my remaining time playing angry birds to try and finish it before I lose the phone and have to start again at the beginning. As if to mock myself I have been listening to David Allen GTD podcasts at the same time. But I'll get cracking following your advice now.
