Going thru the settings under security there is a option to encrypt my data and require a password to decrypt the data every time the device is powered on... why would I want to do that?

Encrypting the drive on mobile devices like tablets, laptops, etc. is pretty common in corporate environments.

If the device is lost or stolen, your data would otherwise be there for the taking.

I encrypted mine simply for the extra comfort and now I don't mind letting the browser remember all of my passwords.

In case anyone was curious at boot up it has to decrypt the data which takes a few extra seconds but other then that there is no downside.
