any ideas on how to export my contact list from gmail to my phone manually since it fails to sync through my phone?
nope. i am a huge diesel fan. got a couple of cummins drag trucks with a little over 1000hp at the wheels. although, i have worked on a few high hp bmws.
Try logging in to your Gmail account on the computer.
Export your contacts that you saved to a .CSV file and save it on your desktop.
Google search a ".CSV to Vcard converter" and convert the file to Vcard.
I know that the phone can import Vcards, so maybe you can either:
A: save the converted Vcard to your SD card and import it
or
B: I have no other ideas!
EDIT: try this link CSV to vCard Conversion Tool | Psychobabble
Have you looked into your google sync issues?

Being that this is a 2.1 build, if you switch to home shouldn't we have 5 home screens instead of 3? I thought that was one of the benefits of 2.1 over 2.0.
NKT - Any other ways to increase signal strength besides *228? I had my Eris next to my girlfriends Blackberry and I had 1 bar and she had full.
Not necessarily. The Moto Droid 2.1 doesn't have 5 screens.
Stock Home on the Eris 2.1 is only 3 screens.
Which option did you do in *228?
Also, check in DEBUG to see if the bars match your actual signal level.
