When I receive/make/end a call, the phone freezes up for about 5 seconds. I'll click the phone button on the screen and click a missed/received call, and it'll take about 5 seconds to call..and once it does, the phone does a quick vibrate. This all happened once I got the OTA. Anyone else have this problem?

I've tried the search function and Google..no dice.

I tried the factory reset option and I sort of have this issue and the message notification delay issue. My phone just sits there if I press a number and then it calls and vibrates. I wouldn't say it freezes, but I guess that's sort of what it does. The vibrate I'm assuming is to let you know it has dialed if the phone isn't up to your ear. I assume this cause after I dial if the phone is up by my ear it doesn't vibrate.

Have you guys deleted your call history? That usually helps me.

Agreed. May be worth a shot.

    Phone>Menu>Call history>Menu>Delete>Ok.

Call log trimmer is a program that automatically does that for you after calls.

    May be worth a shot

YES, I have this issue and it's driving me crazy!!!!!! I really like the ERIS but I'm about to throw it through a wall. I've done the factory reset, cleared call log and etc but nothing seems to help. I might try the factory reset again but I'm hoping someone has a solution to this problem before i try it.

I made the mistake the other day and tried the Incredible out at the Verizon store.....FAST!!! Some day:)

Hey, that was cool! Not sure if it effected my calls yet, but after doing that my favorites numbers show up behind the dialing pad! I have been so frustrated by having no easy way to get to my favorites for dialing. Very annoying.

My call lag is absolutely TERRIBLE! I thought it was bad on 1.5, but now it takes me about 3 tries before I can actually connect to a call. The first call usually takes about 15 seconds to even register on the screen. By this time, I've already tried to call a second time, and my phone starts freezing up. Then it finally connects, and it hangs up on the person about 30 seconds into the call. The 3rd call usually goes through, but the person on the other end thinks I'm nuts for calling them 3 times.

My phone will also call people randomly when I select a particular person to dial. I have people calling me all the time asking if I called them. My call log says I did, but I definitely didn't push their contact card.

My husband said we have to open a Verizon claim with them in order for this issue to be fixed. Until enough people put in a claim about this problem, they won't spend the time to come up with a solution.

It's even affecting my bluetooth. With 1.5, I would receive a call, click the button on my bluetooth and it would connect right away. With the OTA, there's a lag time between the press and the connect. I've tried clearing the log and it didn't do much. I'm tempted to get a replacement, but reading about the silent call bug and other problems with them has made me wary.

    It. Is. So. Annoying.

I also get the call lag. Actually, its very laggy whenever I try to use anything associated with making an actual phone call. I often have to touch my contact 3 times before it even responds. What really frustrates the living crap out of me is the ringer for incoming calls... It might flash and the screen might light up, but the ringer doesn't come on until the very end. It usually audibly rings for maybe 3 seconds before it goes to the missed call log. People are beginning to expect me to call them back because I am never able to actually answer their call. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm contemplating taking it back.

Deleting call history, especially if it's built up quite a bit, sure does help with lag.

Also, just general cleanup around other areas of the system can take a load off the cpu and other portions of the device that do the work: delete old messages and emails, clear the caches on applications you run a lot or have not run for a while having forgotten about them by going into Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Clear Cache (on each app) then the Running Services area where you tap the services you don't need running.

That stuff done regularly can make a once fast Eris that has slowed down and become laggy fast again.

  14. A little thread drift, perhaps and I apologize, but it does have to do with the flakiness of the call history, I think.

On occasion, I think when I have selected a contact in the history log, an "action" tab set pops down from the contact line. The tab had all the options available; call, message, e-mail, navigate to...

I can not for the life of me get those "action tabs" to drop down for me again. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

If you are looking at the dialer, then press the "Call History" button in the lower right corner, then navigate to "All" people (the single silhouette on the bottom left), then select a contact gives you the contact card. Is this what you are looking for?

I wonder if this has anything to do with the silent call bug. What if it's a missed call due to severe lag?

Some perceived lag in phone function can be related to the wrong slot cycle for your tower proximity at the times of the incoming calls.

The slot cycle index is at ##778 (dial as if making a call) > Edit Mode > 000000 (six zeroes for the password) > Modem Settings > Slot Cycle Index.

Make your selection, probably a "1" or a "0," then > Menu and save/confirm your new setting.

    The device will then reboot.

All the helpful hints have been great and I've done them all and I have to admit it has helped my lagging a bit but it's still frustrating.

You might want to do a search in the Eris area for the threads having to do with lists of apps users have... there has been some discussion about 1. various apps causing lag in the device, and 2. too many apps causing overall device slow-down. Some applications have been mentioned by name as, once gotten rid of, being identified as the culprit.

Disagreement about that abounds, of course. ;)

Thanks Frisco I'll check them out.
  22. No, that's not what I thought I saw.

This was when I selected a contact from the history list, took my finger off the selection, the contact was highlighted and these option tabs came down...

Oh, I just figured it out. (more precisely, stumbled upon it again) From the people/contact list, if you tap on the picture, the tabs pop up and give you the option to select what action you want, call, message, navigate...

I've gotten confused in the past where I select a contact to get information and mistakenly call the person. I still need to learn the logic behind the different screens and what to expect from my actions.

Verizon called me to see what they could do about my dialing lag. All they did was suggest a factory reset, which of course didn't help (I already did one, but I get it... they have to suggest it). They wanted me to prove that my phone had dialer lag right after I reset it. Which I told them that it doesn't usually lag on the first phone call of the day--it's usually after I've used the phone for email/internet/something else that day.

The clear call history does not fix the lagging problem on 2.1 for me, because it's a completely different type of dialer lag than I had on 1.5. On 1.5 it was just slow to input numbers, but on 2.1, it takes about 30 seconds to even register that I called someone.

I have noticed that my phone doesn't ring on the first 1-2 seconds of a call, but it will flash. After the first 2 seconds or so, the ring finally goes on. Is that helpful for anyone who thinks they have a silent bug, or is it completely different than what you are experiencing?

I too had this problem, I had done the factory reset. I then also tried the call log trimmer cleaned all my memory and various other tricks recommended. All without success, I went to the Verizon store today and duplicated the problem to a nice young lady at the store. Voila !!! my new phone
(re-certified) is coming to my office Tuesday for free.
Absolutely free no shipping charges overnight. We shall see if
this solves my problem. Keeping fingers crossed !!!!:D:D:D:D:D
PS: They were extremely cooperative at the store.

I feel like getting another Eris is not a solution to the problem though. It seems to be a software issue. Let us know what you think of the new one.
