I received notification that update(s) available for installed apps, but when trying to download the update, I got the message 'Error 492'. I went to settings -> applications -> all -> google play store and cleared cache. I then went to recovery and cleared Cache and Dalvik cache. I was then able to download the update after the reboot, BUT got message 'invalid package' after attempt to install. Had to uninstall the app (Maps) and the reinstall the app (it installed without a problem).

    Why these issues?

I'm not sure why it happens, but it shows up from time to time. I think I remember this being an issue when I would try to do a bunch of updates all at once. I guess I would have a couple questions.

    1) are you using any themed apps? Sometimes this can be problematic when they update from the Market, but usually you should be ok.

    2) are you using a backed up version with Titanium backup or are you talking about apps that you originally downloaded from the market?

    3) Sometimes it's just random. I will usually clear market data (not just the cache) and sometimes that works. Or go into the app, clear data, and then update. Otherwise just uninstall/reinstall.

    Thanks for the replies:

The apps were from the Market and not via TB. The most recent app to have this problem was Google Maps. After Clearing data and Cache for the market AND booting into recovery to clear Cash and Dalvik Cache, I still could not update Google Maps. I then uninstalled Google Maps and did a fresh install from Play Store which was successful.

I've had to do this with a few apps I've even gotten a not enough space mind you i have 200 + megs and its a small download but I find deleting the old app and then clearing cache and dalvic work for reinstalling.
