ES file explorer pro1.0 is it safe?

I've used it before they added all of the crap they have now and I'm currently using only Solid explorer but thinking of going back to it...

I used Asus Files Explorer for many years, never has issue with it.

I just like the overall look and commands within ES explorer, I've been using solid explorer for a while now but it's a bit awkward compared to ES...
Maybe I'll just stick with it ( solid explorer that is...)

If an app is "safe unless you are rooted" that equates in my mind with "I can't trust the developers". Whether my phone is rooted or not would be secondary.

This version might be perfectly acceptable or it might not, but given there are so many other viable alternatives that are functionally just as good or better I don't see any reason to bother even giving it any consideration.
