Who will be the winner of EURO 2016?
My vote goes to Spain.
Going by the performance of England last night, it certainly won't be us.
Agree with you. Also Germany has a good chance. What do you think?
Ok.. If we're going to pick sides.... I'm going for England to get knocked out in the quarter finals, and Belgium to beat Germany in the final... (France and Spain as losing Semi-finalists)
Rooney to get a red card.... and Thomas Muller to get the Golden Boot, Christian Ronaldo to catch the Golden Snitch, and Slytherin to have to most players in the final.
That's too easy: I don't follow football, but even I know that in 4 competitions out of 5 England get knocked out in the quarter finals .
Is China in it this year?
Are you kidding? It is EURO.
Being a Swansea lad, I'd like to see Wales do well.
Realistically though, you're probably looking at Spain or the hosts to win.
Forza Italia all the way as you can see by my avatar!!! Much to the chagrin of the rest of the country seeing as I'm living in Spain, lol, but I've always been an agitator I guess, lol.
For an unfancied team against the favourites, your boys did really well tonight.
It's really, really weird not seeing Pirlo in an Italy team. He's probably one of my favourite players.
I don't follow soccer (football to you guys), but I read in the paper that that England and Russia could be kicked out of the competition if the hooligans keep it up. I can't fathom taking sports that seriously.
I don't really follow football (soccer) much.
Really, Really, Really???? Doesn't show at all Big Mike!! You probably fancy a rousing game of cricket I imagine??? Lmao!
Yes, of course!
But nobody around these parts seems to know anything about it, or even recognises what these things are and what you'd do with them....despite my best efforts.
Although to be fair, cricket is still very popular in Hong Kong.
Mind you if you ask many around here what this is for, they'll often say Rugby.
BTW a few years ago the NFL wasted a heck of lot of dollars in this country. They gave up in the end.
China Bowl ROFL!
Inaugural and ONLY game.
I can completely understand the behaviour of the fans, having seen the way the game is played on the pitch.
I suppose the giveaway is that China isn't in Europe and the tournament is called "Euro" 2016.
I've no love for the English fans, but in this instance, they were set about by the Russians and apparently the policing at the game was terrible. That being said, pretty much every major tournament England fans are involved in trouble so they make themselves an easy target. It's a minority that are ruining it for the decent folks that just want to watch a game of football.
It's absolutely appalling what happened in that stadium. Russian thugs attacking a section of the crowd containing families, kids. It must have been a terrifying experience for them.
It doesn't help things when you have Russian MPs congratulating them - http://news.sky.com/story/1711367/russian-mp-to-euro-hooligans-well-done-lads
I know, I couldn't believe that statement. Totally irresponsible, and inflammatory comments from someone in a position of power and influence. Makes you wonder if this is a state organised effort to discredit England, and potentially get them kicked out of the tournament.
The English FA have been quite vocal in their distrust of the way Russia were awarded the rights to host the 2018 World Cup.
Didn't the British Athletics Association (sorry, I don't know it's name), play a big part in getting a load of Russian Athletes banned for doping too?
I imagine the Russians believe they do have reason.
Yes with all the trouble over the athletics, it does seem to make sense. I mean the violence from the Russians just seems a little *too* organised doesn't it?
And England fans must be very careful now, not to get drawn into another confrontation. It could mean the end for the team. Tricky situation.
Russians have already attacked England fans today in Lille. But that won't cause any penalties for them as it happened on the streets (not during the match). As for the winner. Germany haven't met a good opponent yet. Half time showed that they can also be under good pressure.
You would think so Sr. Presidente but not always, lol. As I said in my first post I'm an instagator and also have a BIG Italian mouth, lol, so whenever people are arguing about football/soccer here in Spain I always side with Italy and since I'm from the States when the conversation gets heated people will always ask me when was the U.S. won the Euro Cup to which I'll reply "never" because we aren't allowed to play it! Lol. As a side note Sr. Presidente I would like to see Strachan and Co. do well though seeing that this is their first time to the dance!!!!
Top of the group!
I'll take it a game at a time, but I'm freaking delighted at the moment!
Wales are playing really well.
England match was a complete yawn fest.
Now THAT'S a fan!
