Um, guys, how inaccurate do we think HTC's own shop website is? If we think they're accurate, then it is a OLED screen

My behold 2 has an AMOLED screen and yes it is horrible in sunlight. I was just outside ten minutes ago and I was trying to shield the light so I could read a text message.

BTW, OLED really isn't that bad out in the sunlight, I think people just NEED to find something to complain about. Now if you were comparing transflective LCD with OLED, THEN it would be a completely different story.

Ah, that makes sense why Walmart would have the same/similar stats.

Thing is, how much input does HTC actually have into the online store, if it's run by Let's Talk. I guess we'll see.

I don't really care, as long as the screen is clear.

Videos of the N1 next to the Evo make it pretty obvious that we're dealing with a TFT LCD here, regardless of what that site says.

I've been testing out the Incredible, until the EVO comes out, and the OLED screen on this is absolutely useless outdoors... even when NOT in direct sunlight (eg in my car with tinted windows), I can't see much content, even when the brightness is maxed. I was so disappointed in outdoor usability with the Incredible, that I was thankful to see the EVO was using TFT.

I wonder... My friend has the incredible and the display is perfectly visible in sunlight.... maybe brightness settings differ?

More likely due to *what* you're looking at, in terms of content that lacks a bright background. For example, try looking at video content while outdoors or sitting in a car, etc. -- it's a joke most of the time.

Poor screen visibility combined with the weak battery has me looking forward to returning the Incredible and trying out the EVO soon.

The manufacturers website says WVGA OLED Touch screen NOT LCD.
Who is going to debate that the builder of the phone is wrong.

It is a WVGA OLED Touch screen per HTC, as of today.

Tostito's Salsa? You are quite the salsa aficionado. I think Walmart is the perfect place for you and all your "top shelf" demands.

So you revived a 6 month old thread to point out that whatever website you found this on was incorrect?

It's not an OLED screen, we know this for a fact now, as we have the phone IN OUR HANDS. The easiest way to tell an OLED screen is to see if the screen lights up when black. OLED does not, LCDs do. Guess what the EVO does? (Spoiler: it lights up black)

Now let this necrothread rest in peace.

This has been settled. The screen is not OLED.
